Hello Friends,

First, I just want to thank you for all of your prayers, blessings and good wishes.  Every message and comment, every kindness has meant so much.  Old friends and family, work friends and neighbors, students and their families hve surrounded us with love.  We feel it and appreciate it.

We set off for Baltimore Monday (yesterday as I write) It was hard to leave home.  While this surgery has been very real to us for weeks now, leavng for the hospital with surgery just two days away  brought it clearly into focus. We both misted over.  We know that it will be OK and that this is only a temproary setback.  The surgeon exudes knowledge and confidence.  Johns Hopkins is the best.

But it is scary.

Heidi has been brave and resolute as she could possibly be.  If you know her that won't be a surprise.  Never one to feel sorry for herself, she dove into researching this and finding solutions.  We're here.  The solution lies ahead.  Tests today, admissions meeting and paperwork, then a meeting with the surgeon.  Then we wait until tomorrow morning.  Surgery is at 7:30.  Heidi is beautiful and thoughtful and brave and wise - as she always is.

I'll keep you posted.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.  All will be well.
